Brunner long jumps to All

Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic graduate Aurielle Brunner became the first All-American in Chatham University history with a fifth-place finish in the long jump at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships in Rochester, NY.

Brunner, seeded 15th in the long jump, finished with a leap of 5.78 meters. She also competed in the high jump where she finished in 19th place at 1.56 meters.

Brunner has one more event, the triple jump at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Millersville advances

Millersville University baseball is hosting a best-of-3 series against Seton Hill in the NCAA Division II Super Regionals over the weekend, and started Friday with a 9-4 victory.

The Marauders, the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic Region, are 44-8. Jonah Snowberger (Central), Keegan Soltis (Philipsburg-Osceola), Rece Ritchey (Huntingdon) and Alex Mykut (Huntingdon) are all members of the Marauders, who defeated University of Charleston and West Chester in the NCAA Regionals to advance to Super Regionals.

Soltis was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Friday's victory.

Soltis, a redshirt sophomore, has started 49 games primarily as the Millersville third baseman. He is hitting .333 with three home runs and 32 RBIs.

Mykut pitched four solid innings in the final win of the regional against West Chester, allowing just one earned run on one hit. He has a 2-2 record with a 4.50 earned run average in 13 starts. Ritchey had a 4.66 ERA in 10 appearances on 9ª innings and also recorded a save.

All-MAC

Altoona Area graduate Darrian Berkheimer and Central product Jacob Detwiler were named to their respective All-Middle Atlantic Conference teams.

Berkheimer, a member of the women's track and field team, was named to the MAC Third Team in the 400-meter dash. She had a best time of 58.48 seconds. Berkheimer also had a time of 13.19 seconds in the 100-meter dash, and 26.92 seconds in the 200-meter dash.

Detwiler, a member of the Dutchmen baseball team, was picked as a Second Team selection. He recorded a 3.79 earned run average and had four saves in 16 appearances out of the bullpen. He struck out 26 batters in 19 innings.

Hite, Lehner key players

Penn Cambria graduate Dallas Hite and Tyrone Area graduate Kevin Lehner are members of the Penn State Harrisburg baseball team that won the United East Conference championship.

Hite became the second player in the program's history to hit for the cycle earlier this season in a 16-12 win over Virginia Wesleyan. He was the third player in program history to record 200 career hits. He finished the season with a .353 average with 12 home runs, 46 RBIs, four triples, 11 doubles and 21 stolen bases.

Lehner hit .438 with 12 home runs, 44 RBIs, 13 doubles and five stolen bases.

Both Hite and Lehner made the First Team All-United East Conference. Penn State Harrisburg finished 34-13.
