Bridge project meeting set

Nov 23, 2023

May 19, 2023

PennDOT is developing plans to replace the state Route 36 Mill Run Bridge and resurface Route 36 in Altoona and Logan Township.

A public meeting to discuss the project will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Altoona Bible Church, 3017 Union Ave., Altoona.

The project will include replacement of the existing bridge structure with a new box culvert, modification of the state Route 36 (Union Avenue) intersections at Crescent Road and 31st Street and reconstruction of state Route 36 (Union Avenue) about 500 feet to the south and 250 feet to the north from the bridge. A detour will be in place for this part of the project, with local access for residents.

Additional work on the project will be the resurfacing of state Route 36 from Plank Road to Mill Run Road, guardrail upgrades and other safety improvements. Work will be completed under daylight flagging operations. Also included will be the replacement of two pipe culverts near the Washington Avenue intersection of state Route 36 in Logan Township. These replacements will be completed under a short-term detour.

The public is invited to the meeting to review and comment on the proposed project.
