A nightmare neighbour who spent years banging on floors, walls and windows late at night, saying the residents were too noisy, has been given a restraining order by a judge.

The 42-year-old was slapped with a five-year restraining order after she was found guilty of harassment involving fear of violence against one of her neighbours.

Calzadilla from Chertsey, Surrey, will also have to pay compensation to the neighbours she consistently harassed since March 2018, when she first began banging the floors, windows, and walls late at night claiming they were being too noisy.

Detective Constable Daniel Bell, who investigated the case, said: "Their lives have been made a misery by Cazadilla's behaviour.

"I hope that the sentence she has received provides them with some closure and the peace that they deserve."

During the trial, a jury heard the victims recorded as many as 14 separate incidents over a one-month period in an anti-social behaviour diary provided by Runnymede Borough Council.

She was alleged to have gone as far as physically assaulting her neighbours and the court heard how Calzadilla's behaviour impacted the victims' mental health and wellbeing by forcing them to live in a state of constant fear.

She was first arrested in August 2019 and again in April 2020. She was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm and grievous bodily harm - but she was not convicted of these offences in court.

Instead, she was found guilty of harassment involving fear of violence against one of her neighbours at Kingston Crown Court in March 2023.

She was given a 12-month suspended prison sentence, ordered to complete 80 hours of community service, and given the five-year restraining order to protect the victims.

Detective Constable Bell said: "I want to praise the victims of this case for their bravery and courage in seeing this through to trial.

"Surrey Police takes harassment extremely seriously and I hope this case serves as an example to others to pursue any form of anti-social behaviour and related offences, particularly when it becomes this relentless."
