Harry Kane's stance on Real Madrid transfer as Daniel Levy sets new Tottenham price

Nov 18, 2023

Real Madrid look determined to sign Tottenham's record goalscorer Harry Kane following Karim Benzema's move to Saudi side Al-Ittihad and the striker has now responded to a potential move

Harry Kane has given the thumbs up to a move to Real Madrid with the Spanish side launching their efforts to sign him.

The Tottenham striker has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu over recent days following the shock exit of Karim Benzema. The Frenchman announced last week that he would be bidding farewell to the Spanish capital after 14 years.

He has since penned a lucrative deal with Saudi outfit Al-Ittihad, leaving Real without a recognised, senior centre-forward in their squad. Kane is the most obvious candidate for the reigning European champions with his future looking uncertain with just one year remaining on his Spurs contract.

And it appears that a move could inch a step closer with the 29-year-old seemingly up for a switch. According to Spanish outlet Marca, Real have launched their attempts to take Kane to the Bernabeu this summer.

He has reportedly given his approval to their efforts, whilst Daniel Levy has priced a move at around €80m (£68.8m). Despite Kane's approval, Real are apparently not expecting a deal to be easy by any means.

Levy is expected to be stern in negotiations, something that the Spanish side know all too well after their attempts to sign Gareth Bale and Luka Modric in the past. Meanwhile, Los Blancos would also not be willing to pay any more than €100m (£86m) to secure the England captain's services.

Former Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos is already among those attempting to get Kane to Madrid. He has urged the striker not to miss out on a switch this summer.

The veteran defender said: "My advice to any player is don't turn down the opportunity to play for Real Madrid – it is a special club who know how to win. He [Kane] has an incredible physical presence, you can't score as many goals as he does in the Premier League and not be able to play the physical side of the game.

"But also he can play the technical side of the game as well and I don't think he gets enough credit for that. Yes, he is a great goal scorer but also he is a great football player as well."

Kane is fresh off the back of yet another brilliant season in the Premier League despite Spurs’ struggles from a team point of view. He scored 30 goals throughout the campaign and only finished behind Erling Haaland in pursuit of what would have been another Golden Boot.

Whilst he is being targeted by Real, they appear to have made a decision on another potential recruit. It was previously suggested that they could swoop for Kai Havertz but as it stands, they have not made any attempt to sign him from Chelsea.
